About Me...I am a mixed-media fiber artist who currently has a small art studio in my home in Southern California as well as a small studio in my home in southern Vermont. They are chalk full of all sorts of fabrics, scraps, paints and threads! Keeping them organized is a chore but I try....sometimes!
I travel by train from one coast to the other several times a year. I could never pick one place over the other for they both offer so much and constantly inspire my art and creativity! In 2009 I retired from teaching in San Diego and started Art Quilts 101, Art Quilts Marketplace and Sue Freebern Designs: Show & Tell on Facebook to learn more about art quilting from others as well as share what I have learned. The groups are archived now but I continue to post on Sue Freebern Designs where it gives me more time to create rather than administrate! HA! Creating...It seems that I have alway been a creator of some sort of art since I was young. As soon as I came up with an idea or learned something new I was off making it
and experimenting with the process and techniques. I never liked to copy anything but always wanted to put my own twist on it. I eventually started making small art quilts and buying fabric and that was the beginning of this story.... |
Art Quilting...Years ago I saw a pictorial art quilt in a shop window in Dorset, Vermont and I was so inspired that I started my own cottage industry in Vermont. I designed and sold art quilts that were stitched onto burlap and framed with wooden hoops. Years later I continued to be fascinated by art quilting and created Art Quilts 101 and Art Quilts Marketplace on Facebook as mentioned above. That was followed by the creation of my artist Page on Facebook called Sue Freebern: Mixed-Media Fiber Artist. Now I am beginning the exciting process of designing my own art quilt patterns, digitally enhanced mixed media art work as well as fiber art where I blend my love of photography and textiles together into one!
I hope you will visit my shops on Craftsy, ETSY and eBay often to see my new work. Thank you! Click below to go to my artist Page on Facebook. |
